Chicago International Puppet Festival
The Chicago International Puppet Theater Festival (chicagopuppetfest.org) is the largest event dedicated to the artform in North America. In the heart of winter, the Festival spans 12 days and dozens of Chicago venues, sharing 100+ puppetry activities with 14,000+ guests. When they needed help with the development of a complete redesign, I worked with their creative team to ensure that the site met their specifications and could seamlessly integrate with their new calendar and ticketing systems.
Collaboration and Redesign
I worked closely with the Festival’s outside designer to consult on all technical aspects of the redesign. I researched and priced different hosting options and scoped hosting features unique to the Festival’s needs and helped brainstorm ways to implement new and important features.
After a brief Covid-19 hiatus it was important that the Festival re-establish its presence and delivering a new and engaging digital experience was a key part of that effort. I made sure the site migration and redesign launch went smoothly and developed new ways to implement the Festival’s ticketing system (Spektrix) so that it was easier for staff to update and provided a solid experience for users.
